Guest Artist Highlight: Soprano Christie Conover

The audience will have the pleasure of hearing soprano Christie Conover perform two pieces on this concert – Leonard Bernstein’s “Glitter and Be Gay” and Samuel Barber’s Knoxville, Summer of 1915. Both selections will highlight her exceptional voice and stage presence.

Conover is familiar to Cheyenne audiences; last year, she impressively stepped in at the last moment for a performer who became unavailable. Well- known in the Rocky Mountain area Conover possesses an exquisite voice that the San Francisco Classical Voice enthusiastically described as a “well-focused instrument with a lovely timbre, perfect trill, and soaring top. Audiences and critics alike agree: Christie Conover is a standout.”

A seasoned performer, Conover has taken on lead roles with various prestigious organizations, including Komische Opera Berlin, Minnesota Opera, Opera Colorado, Opera Steamboat, and Opera San Jose. On the concert stage, she has performed with the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Music Festival, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Grand Junction Symphony, Billings Symphony, Helena Symphony, and numerous regional symphonies along the Front Range.

Her talent has been widely recognized, earning her placements in several competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Rocky Mountain Region), a top prize at the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition, the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Competition, the Irene Dalis Competition, and the Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition. She was also proud to represent her home state of Montana as a contestant in the 2007 Miss America Pageant and has traveled extensively to speak with students on a platform close to her heart, Music Makes the Difference.
