CSO’s First Composer-in-Residence, Jeff Lippencott

CSO is delighted to welcome two-time Emmy-nominated and Alpine-based composer, Jeff Lippencott, as our first Composer-in-Residence.  Lippencott will guest conduct the world-premiere of his Pasturelands Cello Concerto, featuring Zuill Bailey.

Lippencott has selected CSO to professionally record three of his pieces, including Pasturelands, on what will be CSO’s first professional album.  Lippencott has also secured Grammy-winning producer Elaine Martone and Grammy-winning sound engineer Robert Friedrich to work on the album.  In addition to Pasturelands, CSO will record Lippencott’s Grand Teton Suite and American Patriot Hymn, which CSO commissioned for the America 250th Celebration.  The recording of American Patriot Hymn will also feature the Cheyenne Chamber Singers and the University of Wyoming Collegiate Chorale, with narration by actor Gary Sinise (recorded remotely).  This performance and recording was made possible, in part, through a grant from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund.

Known for his work in television and film, Lippencott has composed music for popular series including Shark Tank, The Apprentice, The Biggest Loser, and MasterChef USA. He is the co-founder of Ah2 Music, a studio based in Valencia, California, and continues to compose for a wide variety of projects.  Lippencott’s music often reflects his Christian faith, inspired by a desire to express the beauty of creation and the glory of God through melody and harmony. His compositions include the acclaimed hymn collection Glory to the Holy One.

CSO will perform works by Lippencott several times throughout the season including his Cowboy Suite on the Movie Music Matinee in January and the world-premiere of American Patriot Hymn in April.
