CSO Launches Celebrating America Season
The CSO is excited to announce the opening performance of the Celebrating America Season, featuring the enchanting soprano Christie Conover. The first concert of the season Of Thee I Sing, will take place on October 11th at 7:30 PM at the Cheyenne Civic Center. It promises an unforgettable evening filled with the iconic works by celebrated American composers.
The performance begins with the splashy and fun Overture from Candide by Bernstein, an energetic piece that captures the spirit of the American musical tradition. Then, soprano Christie Conover will dazzle the audience with her stunning vocal talent as she joins the orchestra for two songs by Samuel Barber and Leonard Bernstein, one mystical and one hilarious.
Ives’ Symphony No. 2 is a remarkable orchestral masterpiece that beautifully weaves together quotes of American patriotic songs and folk songs with quotes of Brahms and Beethoven. Completed in the early 20th century, it masterfully blends traditional symphonic forms with elements of popular and church music, capturing the vibrant essence of American life and Ives’ unique vision. This symphony celebrates the diverse sounds of its time, showcasing a captivating mix of imaginative harmonies that continue to inspire and delight listeners today.

Enhance your experience with an introduction to the concert by Maestro Intriligator and guest soprano Christie Conover at our free “Lunch and Learn” on Fri, Oct. 10th, 12-1:00 PM at the Laramie County Public Library, or watch the video on demand on CSO’s website and YouTube channel. “Classic Conversations”, an abbreviated introduction to the concert by the Maestro, will take place on Oct. 11th, 6:30-7PM at the Civic Center for ticketed patrons. The concert will also be livestreamed for $25 per household for those who are unable to attend in person.
