Cheyenne Chamber Singers & CSO Unite for a Festive Musical Celebration

The Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra is pleased to once again collaborate with The Cheyenne Chamber Singers for our Holiday concert this year.  We will begin with Il Est Né, a joyful Christmas piece that combines traditional melodies with fresh harmonization’s. Its lively rhythms and rich textures create a festive atmosphere, making it perfect for holiday performances. The arrangement conveys a message of hope and joy. Next, we will present I Will Light Candles This Christmas, based on a poem by Howard Thurman and set to music by Kim André Arnesen. The central metaphor of the poem is lighting candles to bring light into darkness, inspiring a message of hope, joy, courage, peace, grace, and love.

We will also feature Let It Snow, written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in July of 1945 during a heatwave in Hollywood, California. Dreaming of cooler weather, the song was first recorded in the fall of 1945 by Vaughn Monroe, and by Christmas of that year, it became a hit. Fun fact: Although we associate this song with Christmas, its lyrics never actually mention the holiday.

Lastly, John Forrest’s delightful arrangement of The First Noel brings new life to this beloved carol. With its vibrant harmonies and flowing melody, it brilliantly marries traditional joy with modern elegance.
