Audition Announcement – 1776 the Musical in Concert Professional Production

The Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, in conjunction with Cheyenne Chamber Singers, Cheyenne Little Theatre Players and the America 250 committee are producing a concert stage production of 1776. This will be partially staged, and partially ‘on book’ although all music and much of the dialogue will have a memorization expectation. Rehearsals are limited, no sets will be used and there will be limited staging. The Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra will provide the ‘pit’ and all cast will receive an honorarium scaled to the demands of the role & professional experience. One performance will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the Cheyenne Civic Center. Two rehearsals with the orchestra will take place on July 1st and July 2nd.

Cast requirements include 26 men ranging in age from 16-70 (character ages) and two women – character age 27-34. While we are doing the entire show with dialogue, the primary focus of this production is the music and songs. Casting will favor singers that can act, rather than actors that can sing. All music and dialogue will be learned outside of the limited group rehearsals, MTI RehearseScore and tracks will be provided, but cast members must be capable of learning the music without the benefit of a vocal coach and repetitive group rehearsals. Weekly rehearsals will take place on Saturdays/Sundays starting May 23rd in Cheyenne. Occasional zoom/virtual rehearsals will be scheduled with the leads and music director throughout May and June.
